Florence is called the Capital of arts. According to statistics produced by UNESCO 60% of the world's most important works are located in Italy and approximately half of these in Florence.

What should i do in Florence??

If you only have a couple days make reservation for Accademia and Uffizi.
Make sure to see the Duomo and the old bridge.
If you still have time walk up to the Piazzale Michelangelo for a great view of the whole city.

The Uffizi Gallery is the place to see all those Renaissance paintings that make Florence so famous, including the famous Birth of Venus by Botticelli. (and Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo Raphael and the list goes on.) Reservations are highly recommend (We can make them for you). Plan to spend two hour or more. Closed Mondays. Open 8.15am/6.50pm.

Academia Museum: The home of Michelangelo's David! (and some other important Michelangelo sculptures, like the Slaves and the Pieta, but not much else.) Plan on spending about an hour. Reservation in the high season are highly recommended. Closed Mondays.

Piazza della Signoria: on the  way to the Uffizi you will walk through Piazza della Signoria that is a kind of outdoor museum. In front of the town hall (Palazzo Vecchio) stands a copy of Michelangelo's David (the original location) . 

Ponte Vecchio, the 'old bridge', the only bridge that survived the Nazi retreatin World War II. Builty in 1345. The center of the gold and jewelrey trade since the 1500s.
Look above the shops you will notice the Vasari corridor, the covered walkway the Madicis had built when they moved to  the Pitti Palace, so they could walk home from work without mingling with regular Florentines.

Duomo: The biggest thing to see in Florence, is of course, the Cathedral, or Duomo. It can fit 30,000 people! Facade in marble: white, green, and red marble from Carrara, Prato and Siena. The cupola was finished  by master architect Filippo Brunelleschi in 1436. Over 400 steps, beautiful frescoes, great view.

Pitti Palace/Boboli GArdens: Across the Ponte Vecchio, the last residence of  the Medici family. When built in 1458, the largest residence in Europe.
A separate ticket for the Boboli Gardens, a Tuscan Renaissance garden with fountains, cypresses, and statues.

Santa Croce Church is the most important church in Florence after the Duomo.There are tombs of Machiavelli, Galileo, Michelangelo and a monument to Dante, among the others. Contains important frescoes by Giotto and followers.

San Lorenzo, Medici Chapels an entire chapel in marbleand mosaic; the sachristy houses Michelangelo's masterpiece Medici tombs. A gem!

Piazzale Michelangelo a piazza on the hill above the city provides an amazing view, expecially at the sunset. Top ten romantic place in Europe!
You can walk it takes about 30 minutes from the train station or you can take the number 12/13 bus.
